10 Most Difficult Decisions You Are Forced To Make In Mass Effect
3. Cure The Genophage Or Save Mordin
Mass Effect isn't exactly a series full of happy endings, but the finale of the Tuchanka arc in Mass Effect 3 is especially brutal. In the mission's final moments, Shepard can carry out the sabotage and doom the krogan, or allow them to be cured of the genophage. In the latter instance, Mordin Solus, if still alive, will be sacrificed for the greater good to redeem himself after coming to the conclusion that the genophage was a mistake. In the former, the entire krogan race is likely doomed to extinction, but it is possible to save Mordin, if certain conditions are met. I know what you're thinking. The life of one person isn't worth sacrificing an entire species, right? Well, that might be true, if that person wasn't one of the most badass side characters in video game history. Mordin is so cool, players are willing to commit genocide just for the chance to save him. Of course, genocide is really bad and stuff, so that makes it an almost even trade. How far are you willing to go to save your favourite character? Will you allow Mordin to heroically sacrifice himself, or betray the krogan people to keep him alive? Either way, it's not a decision to be made lightly. If you can't convince Mordin however, you should definitely not shoot him. Doing so means having to watch one of the most brutal and gut-wrenching scenes in any video game ever, designed to make you feel as horrible as possible. You bastard.
Ken was born in 1994, and before the turn of the century, he was already a gamer for life, starting with Pokémon Blue Version. He has a passion for storytelling, especially in the gaming medium. Growing up on a healthy diet of JRPGs and point and click adventure games, young Kenny grew up playing Nintendo and Sony consoles, before becoming a snobby member of the PC Master Race. Nowadays, he resides in a time warp, refusing to believe the nineties ended as he fills up his Steam library with old point and clicks and cRPGs.
