10 Most Disturbing Skyrim Secrets (And Where To Find Them)
8. The Fate Of The Hjaalmarch Camp - Apprentice Stone
Hjaalmarch is amongst Skyrim's darkest, most bleakest holds. With the Hjaal River running through the bulk of it, the hold is dominated by misty marshlands and a putrid grey colour. It also contains an abundance of mudcrabs, frostbite spiders and vampires eagerly awaiting any unsuspecting travellers.
The area is so dangerous that not even the most fearsome of bandits clans have established themselves with a strong presence. This only makes the discovery of a small camp in between Morthal, the hold's capital, and the nearby city of Solitude an even bigger mystery.
The camp has a pretty stunning view, with the arch Skyrim's capital is perched on making for a gorgeous backdrop, and the nearby river would be a solid supply of water and food, but the area's hazards seem to have caught up with whoever it was that first came to the location.
The remains of a couple of individuals can still be found on their chairs surrounding a campfire, though very little of their bloody remains can be seen. All of their valuables have been left behind, meaning it couldn't have been bandits, and unlike most other places in Skyrim, there aren't even any nearby enemies to help players learn what occurred on the lakeside.
