10 Most Epic Dragon Boss Battles In Video Games
5. Alduin - Skyrim
No list about dragons would be complete without the World-Eater himself. The greatest dragon to ever exist in the realm of Tamriel, he would herald the end of the world itself if it were not for the Dragonborn, Alduin himself. The final boss to Skyrim can often be considered more of a formality than a great boss, but beyond all of that the fight against Alduin is one of the most epic in all of gaming.
Traversing the realm of Soverngarde, the sky a misty haze with the voices of the old nord heroes in the background, is the perfect setup for a great boss. Not to mention that stumbling through the fog are all the main characters who died while playing. Kodlak, Ulfric and Legate Rikke all wander aimlessly trying to evade the world eater who flies overhead, never actually able to be seen. The whole scene is damn near perfect. And as you rally the heroes of old to face down the dragon god, there are noticeable chills.
Going into battle alongside the old heroes is great, and challenging Alduin alongside those who did so long ago is simply epic. The boss fight could have been better with maybe a unique model and a unique move set instead of a standard dragon re-skin, but there is no doubting the impeccable atmosphere built by facing down the dragon and the void that players are left with having bested the big bad. The boss fight is questionable in quality, but it is one of the most epic experiences in gaming.
I mean when the gatekeeper Tsun is harder than the actual final boss, it makes you wonder why he didn’t go and take care of Alduin. It would have saved us the commute.
