10 Most Epic Dragon Boss Battles In Video Games
4. Sinh, The Slumbering Dragon - Dark Souls II
Whilst the quality of Dark Souls II is often the subject of debate, its DLC packs are undoubtedly the high point in the game, providing some of the most layered and complex levels in the entire series.
From Brume Tower and Fume Knight, to Eleum Loyce and the Ivory King, the DLC made great strides in improving the quality of the game. And alongside all that came one of the best fights in the game. Deep beneath Shulva, The Sanctum City, guarded by fanatics and a shard of Manus himself, is Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon.
A poison imbued Dragon, impaled by Yorgh’s spear, Sinh manages to improve vastly on the mediocre dragon fights in the base game. Combining aerial attacks and ground combat near perfectly -with him tending to spam his flying attacks- the boss fight is a joy to behold. Both fair and fun, he blends what makes the mechanics that make most bosses great to create a genuinely enjoyable experience.
Another bonus, is the lore that FromSoftware crafted behind the sleeping dragon, to make the fight have a certain degree of weight to it as you learn about how he plunged the city into poison after the Drakeblood Knights invaded. All that, coupled with his past appearances throughout the level burning enemies for you, make the entire experience of fighting him one of the best in the series.
