10 Most Evil RPG Characters Of All Time

8. Lyblac (Octopath Traveler)

Baldur's Gate 3 Orin the Red
Square Enix

Lyblac is a fascinating example of a video game villain you don't even realise is the main antagonist until you've technically finished the game. But that style of hiding in plain sight before pulling the rug out from under you embodies her unique brand of manipulative villainy perfectly.

This devilish woman first appears in Bolderfall in a side quest called "Daughter of the Dark God (I)," which probably should have been a big red flag to players. At first, she seems edgy and weird, but overall fine, engaging in some light-hearted, if cruel, romantic hijinks.

However, if you encounter the game's post-narrative quest and dungeon, you'll learn that all the misery and pain found throughout the title have been down to her machinations.

As the quest name suggests, Lyblac is the daughter of the terrifying fallen god Galdera, a world-ending threat she aims to release from captivity. Her desire to release her father has led her to perform many heinous deeds, leading to misery, pain, and suffering across the land. It's her actions that cause all the protagonists to suffer, and they're only a few of her victims.
