10 Most Iconic Mortal Kombat Weapons

5. Kabal's Hookswords

Even though Mortal Kombat 3 received a bit of criticism, it did introduce one of the coolest characters in the series, Kabal. With his superspeed, respirator mask, and burn marks, there was no question that this Black Dragon member had one of the most striking looks in the game.

But what made Kabal really stand out was his weapon of choice. Over the years, it has been known as fu tao, hu tou gou, and the tiger head hook. However, the majority of players call it the Hooksword because... it's a Hooksword. (And in case you're wondering, yes, it is a real weapon.)

Although these dual blades were only used for a few combos in MK3, it wasn't long before they were pivotal to Kabal's fighting style. In recent games, the hookswords have been incorporated into his combos, moves, Brutalities, his Fatal Blow, and his Fatalities.

Not only are these moves cool and creative, they look suitably agonising. Also, watching him rip off his opponent's head with his hooks in MK11 IS one of the most wince-inducing finishing moves in gaming history.
