10 Most INFURIATING Legend Of Zelda Dungeons

9. Ice Palace

Wind Waker Earth Temple

For a series that takes so much inspiration from the elements in its level design, Zelda games rarely utilise ice for their themed dungeons. The Ice Palace in A Link To The Past ably illustrates why: more often than not, the very nature of ice makes them seriously annoying!

ALTTP is one of the truly great Zelda titles (and one of the best games full stop), but the Ice Palace is not so much fun, simply because of how hard it is to move around. Link slips and skids all over the place, and with the collection of strong enemies lurking, this makes for one of the tougher dungeons in the game.

What’s more, the rewards aren’t so great. The boss fight is uninspiring - it’s just a spooky eye encased in some ice - and the dungeon’s bounty, the defence-raising blue mail, is practical but hardly exciting.

The level is no disaster - it’s A Link To The Past, it can only be so bad - but the fiddly controls and lack of a payoff makes it one of the few bits of the game you want to have over and done with, rather than relish.
