3. Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow
Syphon Filter was a game for people who liked Metal Gear Solid but wanted to be able to shoot everyone in the head whenever they wanted, or barbecue them with a taser. The game was a fun blend of action and stealth, but it didn't have the staying power of its rivals. The series gradually fizzed out on the PSP, despite the final two games receiving critical acclaim.
Logan's Shadow ended with lovable agent Gabe Logan about to retire, after becoming sick of the lies and death involved in the spy business. He and his partner enter their base only to find their teammates dead, and Gabe himself is mortally wounded by an assassin. The game ends with his partner trying, seemingly in vain, to revive him.
That's where the Syphon Filter series left things, with the main character bleeding to death and his partner crying over his body. There are no new games in the pipeline, and sadly it feels like the franchise has been assigned to the past.
