2. The Legacy Of Kain: Defiance

It feels plain wrong to exist in a world where there hasn't been a new Legacy Of Kain game since 2003, but that€™s the reality. The series was a dense mix of fantasy, horror and action, and featured two of the coolest anti-heroes in gaming; Kain and Raziel. The two mortal - well, immortal - enemies came together for the final game to date - Defiance - in 2003.

In order to defeat an Elder God who had been using both of them for its own evil purposes (very long story) Raziel decides to sacrifice himself, forcing Kain to kill him so his soul could power the legendary Soul Reaver sword. Kain then fights the God, though he fails to kill it.

Then Kain looks over the city, and thanks Raziel for his sacrifice. There was sixth game in development that would have followed up on this, but it was canned early in development. A planned reboot called Dead Sun was also canned for the PS3 and Xbox 360, which would have followed a new hero instead. The chances of a direct continuation of Legacy is grim at this point, and if Legacy Of Kain does return it will likely be a full on reinvention.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
