Though Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! were officially announced in a May 2018 press conference, their existence was actually leaked almost two months prior in an ingeniously trollish way.

On March 31st, an anonymous 4chan user posted the below blurry screenshot of the game, which depicts a female trainer riding Lapras in the middle of the sea with Eevee in tow.

And the very next day on April 1st - that's April Fool's Day - they followed up with a description of many of the game's features.

Hilariously, in a classic moment of Reddit history which hasn't aged well at all, rabid Pokemon fans largely dismissed the image as a lousy fake, and the leaker was promptly laughed off.

Except, the leak was 100% genuine, yet quite brilliantly concealed its own authenticity amid the annual slew of fakes released every April Fool's Day.
