The black knight of Lordran cuts an imposing figure. Get used to it.

Found throughout many areas of the game, this tall, dark, and murdersome fellow is first found in the Undead Burg, and seen from afar, their stark silhouette will stop you in your tracks. But you will inevitably have to face this relatively common foe, and it's best to tackle them alone if possible. In pairs, whether wielding swords, axes, or spears, they are serious trouble, working with one another to divide the player's attention.

This is where the player has to really put the game's melee fighting mechanics to work. The black knight has a particular style of fighting, complimenting sweeping sword attacks with effective blocking and parrying.

Killing one of these guys is always a relief, and well-deserved. Brush up on your fighting skills. Just keep telling yourself it's only a game and you're not in any real danger.
