10 Most Intimidating Dark Souls Enemies
2. Basilisk
The basilisk is the only Dark Souls enemy on this list - perhaps in the entire franchise - that becomes intimidating after your first encounter with it.
Why? It's not its appearance. It's a mindless-looking, overgrown frog that's about half the size of the player him or herself. Fun fact: those big things aren't its eyes. It's also relatively weak. A cocky player might think to wade into a group of the beasts and be done with them. But that's a common, fatal mistake.
The basilisk can emit a spray of fog that can curse you should stay inside of it long enough. No big deal, right? Wrong. Find yourself cornered by a group of these amphibian annoyances, and you'll find yourself trapped, unable to move, in a cloud of their curse-fog, which not only kills you by turning you to stone, but has the crippling effect of reducing the player's health bar until they can find a Purging Stone. Which, in true Dark Souls style, can be a bit of palaver.
Avoid like the plague.
