6. EX3 Costumes - Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 6’s overstuffed campaign might be an easy thing to mock, with it’s nonsensical story and it’s over-reliance on quick time events. But when it’s not asking you to wiggle your analogue-sticks until your thumbs fall off it’s not all that bad of an action game. There’s some fun to be had in the multiplayer and some cool stuff to unlock along the way if you can stick with it.
Not only does every character in the game have multiple unlockable outfits, the EX3 costumes are truly something special. Resi 6 may be worlds away from the classic games in terms of how they play but these unlockables can take you back to the past with their blocky, polygonal joy.
Ah, a time in gaming where things were much simpler. Nobody had any facial expressions and all their fingers were glued together. Leon, Chris, Ada and Sherry all don throwback looks and even newcomers such as Piers and Jake get a chance to strut their pixelated stuff.
Even if Resident Evil 6 was a shallow experience for you, you could at least enjoy this nostalgic wink. Capcom clearly were proud of the idea, as they brought it forward to Resident Evil 2 Remake too. And long may it continue!
