10 Most Offensive Moments In Duke Nukem History
8. Duke Nukem Remakes & Sequels Shut Down By Gearbox
Interceptor Entertainment began development on a remake for Duke Nukem 3D back in 2010, with approval from Gearbox Software.
However, after Duke Nukem Forever's disappointing reception, Gearbox decided that the game should not be released. After all, it looked better, and it was built in the Unreal 3 Engine while DNF was stuck in the first version of said engine. Not to mention, disappointed longtime fans wouldn't have passed up on playing a remake of the most defining game in the series.
A few years later, Interceptor decided to work on a top-down shooter entitled Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, which plunged them into a legal dispute when Gearbox stepped in and said they did not give permission. Eventually, the game became its own IP starring and entitled Bombshell, who was actually supposed to be a supporting character in the previous versions of Duke Nukem Forever.
