10 Most Overlooked Nintendo Games Ever
4. Doshin The Giant
There aren’t many games which began life on the Nintendo 64DD. An ill-fated expansion to the N64, it was a commercial failure that never saw western release with only 10 games coming out for it. Most games were either cancelled, put onto normal N64 cartridges or ported to the Gamecube and Doshin the Giant was one of the original 10. Initially releasing in 1999, Nintendo saw fit to give it new life on Gamecube in 2002 across Japan and Europe.
A god simulator game, it’s set on the fictional Barudo Island where you take control of Doshin, a benevolent yellow giant who appears out of the sea every morning. Communicating through an island native, Sodoru, they suggest the yellow giant helps the islanders and try to unite its four tribes.
Doshin can also transform at will into an evil alter-ego, Jashin. By choosing to help or hinder the islanders, such as by protecting them from natural disasters, their love/hate will grow and both giants grow depending on how they feel. It holds up as a unique, fun game and is one deserving of a second look.
