The decision to release the latest Hitman game as six individual "episodes" staggered across a year was the worst thing publisher Square Enix could have done for their long-running stealth franchise. In fact, it was a blunder of such a magnitude that it looks like they're going to have to sell off the rights to the series because it failed so miserably.

Which is a shame, because Hitman: Season 1 is the best damn Hitman game in years. Going back to the complexity and openness of Blood Money rather than continuing with the more straightforward and accessible action of Absolution, Season 1 offers six of the most enjoyable levels in the entire franchise.

While that small smattering of maps might seem a bit light when it comes to other major releases, the fact that they're endlessly replayable, packed with not only a multitude of different ways to take out your target but also multiple other secondary assassinations to complete as you go, makes this a no-brainer for any stealth fan.
