10 Most Overlooked Video Games Of 2017 (So Far)

7. Outlast 2

Derided as not being as good as its predecessor upon its first release, Outlast 2 was given a kicking by both critics and fans alike for being a frustrating horror experience.

And sure, there's plenty of ways Outlast 2 falls short of being the classic it could have been (especially when compared to the revered original title), but at its core the atmospheric and ridiculously brutal sequel remains an excellent experience in its own right.

Retaining the same found-footage framing as the first game, this second release swaps the tight corridors of a chaotic mental asylum for the wide open rural areas of Nothern Arizona. Dropped into an apocalyptic plot and hunted by a religious cult who have sexual hangups that would make even Freud blush, you're forced to run, hide, and document your fight for survival along the way.

It's not quite as fresh as the first, and certainly suffers from following January's Resident Evil 7, but Outlast 2 proves that Red Barrels is still one of the most exciting horror developers out there.
