10 Most Overlooked Video Games Of 2017 (So Far)

4. Nioh

Team Ninja

More than just the Dark Souls clone many wrote it off as being before release, Nioh signalled developer Team Ninja's return to the big leagues. Offering the same style of difficult trial-and-error combat as the series it's undoubtedly influenced by, Nioh puts a larger emphasis on combo-based combat and loot than From Software's franchise.

And for a game that can take over 100 hours to complete, the variety in the combat specifically gives you enough reasons to keep playing. New weapons and gear can award you the confidence needed to tackle the game's most grotesque bosses, and the always impressive level design makes exploration a treat.

It's a disservice to call Nioh a rip-off; it's a confident revitalisation for a recently floundering developer that shows they're still brimming with the same creativity and talent that made them famous with Ninja Gaiden.
