1. Hell Let Loose

Between Call of Duty, Battlefield and Halo, fans of multiplayer shooters have had plenty to juggle already this year. You shouldn't sleep on Hell Let Loose though, a truly intense mil-sim WW2 game currently available on console and PC.

Packed with the kind of high-risk, high-reward gameplay that makes this sub-genre so captivating, Hell Let Loose makes every round count and rewards playing methodically with a team, rather than trying to be John Rambo. With immersion being key, you actually have to assess your environment and pay attention. Hit markers are a thing of the past, and you're going to have to confirm kills yourself by seeing a body on hit the deck or hope the last round in the chamber actually tagged the enemy.

With huge levels to fight in, it's a surprisingly good-looking game too. While it can't compete with the AAA giants of the genre, it beats out similar indies attempting this same trick.

If you have a squad to team up with and like your shooters on the hardcore side, this one is only going to get better with time.
