10 Most Overlooked Video Games Of 2023

5. Oxenfree II: Lost Signals

The Invincible
Night School Studio

You'd be forgiven for failing to realise that a sequel to Night School Studio's cult classic mystery-adventure game Oxenfree even came out this year, so head-scratchingly low-profile was its release this past summer.

But don't be fooled - Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is yet another unforgettable plunge into David Lynch-inspired surreal hooey, and for those unfamiliar with the original, it can be easily enjoyed as a standalone experience.

Players control 30-something Riley after she returns to her hometown for a job, where her investigations into a series of strange radio anomalies in the area leads her on a wildly bewildering journey.

Oxenfree II combines a thick sense of uneasy mood with winning banter between its two central characters, Riley and her co-worker Jacob, and a short-but-sweet narrative packed with unexpected twists and turns.

Oxenfree II is a real treat for adventurous players - if you can vibe with a story that doesn't give you all the answers spelled out but certainly makes you feel them.
