3. Balder Side Sword
The Balder Side Sword belongs to an order of knights from a fallen land, and should you liberate it for yourself, you'll gain a weapon that's as dependable as anything. It has the same base damage as a Longsword, but with greater reach, and more powerful thrust attacks to boot.
Being pretty low on stat requirements and coming with an A-grade scaling with Dexterity on the normal upgrade path means it's a weapon that will suit most builds for a run through the game. If you specialise a little more with spells, it also gains A scaling with Intelligence on the Enchanted path. Coupled with this build versatility is an equally versatile move set offering greater combo potential.
Arguably one of the best DEX-based weapons is obtainable pretty early on, with a little bit of luck on your side. Make sure you've got a Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, or at least ten Humanity on hand to offset the 1% drop rate, and then settle into combat with the Balder Knights in Undead Parish.
Eventually, one of them will drop you a weapon that you could very easily take right the way through to the endgame.
