While most people would prefer to attack the irradiated monstrosities of Fallout from a safe distance, so as to not have to worry about being face to face with the horrors of nuclear fallout can create, there is a super-strong melee weapon for those who prefer a more personal touch when crushing their enemies' skulls to a mushy pulp.

Enter the Super Sledge, a pre-war engineering tool that was discovered to be just as effective at smashing bones as well as concrete. There are several iterations of the super sledge that can be found in every entry in the Fallout Franchise, and with every modification, the weapon only becomes more deadly.

In the original Fallout game, the player could buy a super sledge from Old Town in the massive trading city called the Hub, or by joining up with the Brotherhood of Steel and earning it after rescuing some initiates in a side quest. While the super sledge in the original Fallout was the Brotherhood of Steel model and couldn't be upgraded, and had a huge drawback in that the first hit would send enemies flying across the map, making it harder to hit them twice if they survived the first hit. Yet in the first Fallout, players couldn't ask for a better melee weapon to fend off super mutants, deathclaws, and every other thing that wanted them dead.
