10 Most Replayable Opening Sequences In Video Game History

9. Batman: Arkham Asylum

It can't be too difficult to make a good Batman game, right? Just throw in some gadgets, the Batmobile and some goons to casually beat unconscious with a sprinkle of orphan angst and identity crisis' and you've got yourself a game! Yet until Rocksteady came onto the scene a good Batman game was about as rare as a tap-dancing goldfish. So it's easy to see why people were dubious of Arkham Asylum, but just a few seconds of playing it is enough to dispel any scepticism. Hearing Mark Hamill's haunting cackle and Kevin Conroy's booming voice for the first time in the game was a moment of joy for anyone that watched the Batman cartoon while munching on sugary cereal on a Saturday morning in the 1990s. Seeing these two actors reprise their roles gave Asylum an immediate sense of authenticity that never went away thanks to Rocksteady's incredibly respectful treatment of the source material. From the moment Batman enters Arkham Asylum with the Joker, everyone knew that they'd be in for one hell of a ride.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
