10 Most Replayable Opening Sequences In Video Game History

5. Sonic The Hedgehog

From just a few seconds of playing Sonic The Hedgehog one thing becomes glaringly obvious - Sega does what Nintendon't. While Mario favoured a more methodical, precise favour of platforming, Sonic was all about running through levels at a speed no hedgehog in existence should actually be capable of. Pressing forwards and staring in awe as Sonic gradually accelerated to full-throttle is a memory that any '90s kid lucky enough to own a MegaDrive will have. Thanks to the various routes available through the stages, exploring the wonderfully colourful Green Hill Zone somehow manages to remain fun all these years later. The amazing, iconic and nostalgia-inducing music doesn't hurt, either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF9ZLNxHaBY

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
