Nier: Automata was released in 2017 to both critical and commercial success.

It was widely regarded as a masterpiece for its gorgeous visuals, beautiful musical score and its truly unique story and setting.

A sequel of 2010's Nier, it managed to significantly dwarf its older sibling, righting all of the wrongs that prevented the first title from achieving the same level of success.

Nier incorporates elements of role-playing games, text adventures and hack and slash action, giving it popularity amongst fans of a much wider range of genres than would seem possible at first glance.

The game is so large and in-depth that it practically demands multiple playthroughs, and when you factor in its incredible graphical prowess, its worth replaying simply to make sure you didn't miss anything the first time.

Protagonist 2B also made it into Soul Calibur VI as a playable character alongside Geralt of Rivia, which surely is the hallmark of critical acclaim.
