Metroid Prime was released in 2002, the fifth installment in the Metroid Series.

Metroid Prime saw the franchise move into FPS territory, and was the first in the series to implement 3D graphics. It has not only been praised for its gameplay but also for its representation of a female lead in a big budget video game, and it although it first released on the GameCube, it's still being enjoyed today.

It remains to this day one of the highest rated games on Metacritic, and is considered to be among the best video games ever made.

Its a well put-together blend of action, puzzles and platforming, and features a classically exciting sci-fi storyline.

It still serves as an example for how to make a successful sci-fi game, and it's still being enjoyed 18 years later. The nostalgia element alone would be enough for a replay, but don't let that distract you from what an incredible game Metroid Prime really is.
