Rebellion have made a name for themselves in recent years with the Sniper Elite games. Bringing slow-motion, gonad-popping death to thousands of Nazis across several titles, we began to wonder where else to go from there?
Whilst the Zombie Army Trilogy tried mixing in Gears of War-esque horde battles within an occult, multiplayer storyline, it was still dark and foreboding. Commercially successful, but still continuing with the Nazi theme (even undead) that began to grow slightly stale. What could shake that formula up?
Strange Brigade, that's what! Taking the drab out and throwing in bright, bombastic landscapes, it was a welcome change. Set in the world of pulpy, 1930's action comics, with welcoming stereotypes of characters from all corners of the world, it was a breath of fresh air.
Played best with friends, the Strange Brigade heroes are tasked with taking on a 4000 year old Egyptian curse. It sounds like typical story macguffin, but that's the point. It's not taking itself seriously, and you'll have a blast with it.
Whilst it may not have the strength to take on blockbuster games of its time, it's definitely worth checking out if you're keen for some pure co-op fun.
