10 Most Rewarding Evil Playthroughs In Gaming
5. Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
The Belkan War mightn't be the best entry in the Ace Combat franchise, but it has a couple of mechanics that make it stand out, most notably the reputation system. Throughout this combat flight simulator, the fighter pilots are given strict commands on how to take down enemy aircraft. If the player carries out these orders to the letter, they'll be rewarded with a high rank.
However, attacking non-hostiles, destroying crippled jets, and ignoring allies will earn the player Merc points, which makes the main campaign harder. Unless you're looking for a challenge, it's more sensible to follow instructions.
At least, in theory. But since a high body count earns more cash, the best upgrades will be made available if you go on a killing spree. Accepting the Merc lifestyle will make the enemy aircraft tougher at first, but the later stages are a walk in the park since you should've unlocked everything the shop has to offer.
It sounds counter-intuitive but choosing the "hard mode" makes the gameplay noticeably easier. Also, it's significantly more satisfying to shoot and blow up everything in sight than abiding by the rule book.
