10 Most Ridiculous Things You Did For Gaming

8. Genuinely Caring About Trophies And Achievements

Playing video games have within them their own great reward - defeating a boss, winning a race or solving a puzzle inhabit a sense of accomplishment that you yourself never knew you could do until then.

But at one point, consoles dangled some very obscure and very pointless merit badges in front of us. Some gamers brushed them aside, and couldn't care less what they were for, while others chased after them like they were a life preserve.

Achievement Points or Trophies (for Xbox and PlayStation respectively) are a neat thing to pop up every now and again, but we all became obsessed with them at one point. They became more important than a Credit Score and yet they offered NOTHING in benefits.

Chasing these "gaming equivalent of swimming badges" took some gamers down very dark paths - buying and playing the Transformers, Dead Rising or LEGO Games just for the achievement points became a new low - and we all know someone who chased those easy numbers.

Again, these scores offered nothing but for some reason they were a status symbol for the social circle of gaming friends - a ranking system among the peers to falsely determine who was the best around.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
