10 Most Ridiculous Things You Did For Gaming

7. Taking A Side In The Console Wars

Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo

At the tail end of 2020, the world will be bequeathed with two new generations of video game consoles; a new Xbox and a new PlayStation. Times like these, there should be excitement and anticipation, (and there is, don't get me wrong) but there's the aggressive question on certain lips is "which one are you getting?"

This divide has turned gamers into gangs akin to something from The Warriors. Diehard Xbox or PlayStation players take this discussion very seriously, and have been for what feels like twenty years now. Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and even Sega have all played their part in the "Console Wars", and even worse is, we gamers lean into this fight.

Talk to any regular game player and they'll have a story of how they drew lines in the sand and through friendships because someone close to them bought the "wrong" console".

Which is better? What brand are you loyal to? What kind of personality buys a PlayStation/Xbox? Who cares! Why do we care?! I just want to play Call of Duty against someone, what's with all this hostility?

Until the West Side Story of gaming concludes, we'll be dancing with this tribal divide forever.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
