Also referred to as shadow link, this boss is a one which predates the constant battles against Ganon. In Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Dark Link acts as the final boss. However, with Ocarina of Time’s 3D graphics, this game is where our perfect antagonist seems his most threatening.

Dark Link is your perfect copy, one with all of the training you’ve had and a true master of the sword and shield. His attacks are impeccable, leaving no opening as you strike endlessly against him. Now there are of course ways to cheese through this fight with items, specifically your hammer which will pull your weight through to a quick, and rather unsatisfying, victory. That might not sound like a top 10 boss kills moment, but I included it on this list because there is a way to fight him more honourably.

While certainly a difficult foe, Dark Link’s own attacks leave him vulnerable for a fraction of a second. You need to train your reaction time to be on-par with the game’s engine, but it is in fact possible. Doing so will test your mechanical skills to the max, but it’s worth it to know that you defeated yourself in a fair fight.
