10 Most Shameful Video Game Releases Of All Time
4. Mortal Kombat 1 (Switch Port)
Oh, boy. Expect to see this dumpster fire on a lot of "worst port ever lists" in the foreseeable future.
Mortal Kombat 1 may be among the strongest entries in Ed Boon's bone-crunching beat-em-up, but the Switch port is gobsmackingly bad. The limitations of Nintendo's hardware simply cannot handle the game's graphics, causing every match to be filled with janky movements, floating characters, and nightmare-inducing visuals.
Now, all could be forgiven if Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive sorted it out. Sure enough, the developers released a patch a month later, fixing almost a hundred bugs.
Though this news should be reassuring, Switch owners couldn't help wondering why MK1 was released in the first place if the developers knew it had this many game-crashing problems?
Sadly, the patch wasn't up to standard, since many basic issues still occur, including 40-second loading screens between matches, sluggish movements, and incomplete textures.
Just to rub salt in the wounds, Mortal Kombat Onslaught, which was released a month later, has more consistent graphics, minimal bugs, synced animations, and smoother transitions between cutscenes and in-game combat, despite being a frickin' mobile game!
