10 Most Shameful Video Game Releases Of All Time
3. Skull Island: Rise Of Kong
Skull Island: Rise of Kong achieved something once considered inconceivable - it stripped The Lord of the Rings: Gollum's crown as the worst game of 2023.
While looking at the in-game footage, players would safely assume they were watching a beta... of a PS2 title. That's not an exaggeration. The 2005 King Kong game has more polished animations and graphics than this garbage.
As abominable as this MonsterVerse tie-in looks, it plays even worse. Rise of Kong suffers from screen-tearing, uncreative gameplay, barren levels, unresponsive controls, and a mountain of bugs (and not the ones you'd expect to find on Skull Island).
When it was reported IguanaBee endured poor working conditions and unfathomable time restraints during the project's development, no one was the slightest bit surprised. Even if Rise of Kong was assembled by the least experienced game developers possible, they couldn't manufacture something this shoddy unless they had minimal time and resources.
Since Skull Island: Rise of Kong doesn't contain a single redeemable feature, gamers should give this dud a wide berth, even if they're a die-hard fan of the big ape.
