2. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III
Although Call of Duty has had some rough patches, nothing is on par with how 2023's Modern Warfare III turned out. With a 16-month turnaround, this rebooted threequel has "rushed" written all over it.
It's baffling how Activision thought this entry was ready for release, since it suffers from shoddy netcode, empty levels, and a single-digit frame-rate. Due to the short campaign and the repurposed multiplayer maps, MWIII feels like a DLC that was turned into an official instalment at the last minute (especially since players were asked to insert the MWII disc before they could play it). If MWIII was intended as DLC, it makes the big fat $70 price tag all the more insulting.
Activision's attempt to course-correct hasn't been great, since they recently had to remove maps, due to poor spawning. Instead of fixing the game, they somehow made it worse.
Even though Infinite Warfare was considered the uncontested nadir of the series, this abomination has it beat. With only 6% of critics on OpenCritic recommending the game, MWIII is officially the worst mainline entry in Call of Duty.
