10 Most Terrifying Enemies In The Fallout Franchise
8. Centaurs
Centaurs are a Fallout enemy that truly benefitted from the move from 2D to 3D gaming. Seeing a Centaur chase you in turn-based fashion was one thing; coming around a rock formation or though a doorway and seeing one of these pathetic creatures coming at you was something else altogether.
Centaurs were first created by The Master, who while playing with FEV one day decided to throw in seven different animals, including humans, dogs, and cats, and then wait to see what emerged.
What came out was the Centaur.
In both Fallout and Fallout 2, the Centaurs have two heads, one human and one doglike, as well as six arms (that serve as legs) and nasty, wiggly tentacles on their undersides.
In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, the Centaurs all have one head but retain the hands and arms for walking. In place of belly tentacles, however, these Centaurs have three tentacle/tongue things that sprout from their mouths. They use the tentacles like a melee weapon if you get close, and if you try to avoid them but get spotted, they have a ranged attack of a glob of radioactive spit.
There are also bigger Centaurs that have more muscle and are covered with radioactive tumours.
