10 Most Terrifying Horror Game Enemies Of The Generation
4. Mr. X - Resident Evil 2 Remake
Not to worry, Mr. X fans who may or may not have already written me a comment down below saying Mr. X is way scarier than Nemesis, there’s more than enough room for two Resident Evil’s big bads on this list.
Mr. X may be slower than his Resi 3 antagonist counterpart and he wears what some would call a silly hat, but you definitely wouldn’t want to say that to his face. The Tyrant’s lack of speed certainly doesn’t translate to a lack of terror as the sound of his relentless footsteps is enough to raise the hair on the back of your neck at best and shut down the game at worst. What also gives Mr. X the edge over Nemesis is his unpredictability and the absolute dread that comes with trying to evade him, knowing you’re outmatched.
He is immune to all your weapons, and while you can shoot the aforementioned silly hat off his head, his pursuit will never cease.
Mr. X falls squarely into the uncanny valley - he looks almost human but not quite, which is a stark comparison to the Lickers and zombies that populate the Racoon City Police station. This eerie look makes him all the more creepy. We know nothing about him, and that’s what makes him scary - his origins don’t matter. All we need to know is that he’s coming, and he ain’t gonna stop.
Resident Evil 2 Remake was a masterclass entry into the genre, made even better by the inclusion of one of gaming’s best ever villains.
