10 Most Terrifying Video Game Zombies
7. Spider Drone - Dark Souls II
The Dark Souls games are littered
with grotesque and upsetting enemy designs, and for a series where undeath is a
central theme, zombies have a strong representation.
One of the most original designs was a monster encountered in the abandoned mine, Brightstone Cove Tseldora, which is reached roughly at the halfway point of Dark Souls II.
The mine owner’s gargantuan pet spider has laid eggs, and now the mine is overrun by its brood of Labrador-sized young. As if that wasn’t bad enough, some of these spiders have found a way to attach themselves to the unfortunate miners’ backs, and by forcing one of their eight legs into the base of their victims’ skulls they are able to take them for a joy ride.
Gameplay wise these enemies aren’t much of a problem; the spiders aren’t the best drivers and that’s reflected in the host zombie’s erratic movements. It’s just the sheer grisliness of the concept that makes these creatures notable.
