6. Doshin The Giant
If you’ve ever dreamed of taking on a role as an enormous sentient banana with the arms of an orangutan, then you’ll be surprised to learn that there’s a perfect game for you. In Doshin the Giant, you play as the titular colossus, a God-like figure who rises from the sea in order to bless an island with your presence.
Doshin is loosely guided by a narrator, but you’re free to guide him around the island as you plant trees, establish communities, and build monuments so as to curry favour with the island’s residents. As the love for Doshin grows, so too does he, until he is tasked with building an enormous tower with Biblical overtones. The game is un-challenging but rewarding, as the giant’s good deeds bring together once disparate tribes in their island paradise.
There’s also the option to turn Doshin evil, and stomp around the land smashing up all your hard work. You can then absorb the islanders’ hate, in turn making you grow ever larger and more destructive. While it’s satisfying to build up the island, for many Doshin players it’s yet more fun to knock it down afterwards - a vital lesson on the human condition!
