Were this a list of most underrated game trilogies, Jak and Daxter would be up there. In the case of this list, it's Jak and Keira, the central couple of the series. Both deserve to be talked about so much more than they have. When the series begins, their relationship is quite straightforward. Jak is a strapping young lad on an adventure with his orange furry friend, Keira is the daughter of his mentor and the team mechanic, with whom Jak flirts with in that adorable young teen way. By the time second game comes around however, things have changed drastically. They're separated for two years, and when they meet again, Keira is less than impressed with his transformation from pure-hearted rapscallion to gun-toting, gruff-voiced anti-hero. From there, the two have their ups and downs, slowly growing back together as the story continues, and sees Jak's heart start to lighten, following the effects of being transformed into a semi-demonic super-soldier. The two do their own thing, pursuing other interests and even other people like Erol and Ashelin, before finally coming together in the end. It's a great, though disjointed, coming of age story.
