Whilst it might have been one of the launch titles for the PS3 and led to the creation of a four-sequel franchise, there's no denying that the brilliance of the original Resistance game has been lost on far too many gamers.

Following the emergence of the humanoid-alien Chimera across Russia and through Europe, Sergeant Nathan Hale and a US relief force arrive in England hoping to turn the tide on the invasion. Utilising a combination of traditional 1950s weaponry as well as futuristic Chimera technology, players must travel up and down the length of the country, battling through war-torn cities and trekking through underground cave systems as they discover more about the sinister alien enemy.

The diversity in level design, polished and extensive multiplayer and impressive strategy that comes from the vast array of weaponry helps Resistance: Fall of Man easily stack up alongside titles from both the first-person shooter and science-fiction genres. Though the follow-up sequels never came close to hitting the heights of the original, the brilliance of Fall of Man has helped it remain as one of science fiction's greatest video game releases.
