10 Most Underrated Sci-Fi Video Games
5. Syndicate (2012)
Whilst the 1990s Syndicate was a special collection of games, Starbreeze's 2012 reboot of the series, turning a collection of RPG strategy board games into a well-polished first person shooter, was truly staggering, especially given the reported budget it had to live on.
Set in 2069, players follow lead character Miles Kilo, a bounty hunter-like character who works for the mysterious Eurocorp taking down important individuals from their rival companies. Dig beneath the surface however, and players will discover the true manner in which Miles and other EuroCorp agents are recruited.
Whilst the story is solid enough, Syndicate really comes into its own with a vast collection of fun weaponry, with archaic pistols all the way to big futuristic guns all up for grabs across the campaign. These, coupled with the cleverly designed dataverse computer chip that Miles has access to, help give players the feeling of total badassery throughout their time in game and really do make for a fun experience.
On top of that, Syndicate also features hacking that players can use to tackle the game's environmental puzzles, and a cooperative multiplayer that allows up to four people to take on nine individual missions set around the campaign of the original Syndicate title.
