10 Most Underrated Sci-Fi Video Games
2. Second Sight (2004)
One of the deepest, darkest and most imaginative science fiction games to have come out of the 2000s, Second Sight is the story of John Vattic, a parapsychology researcher who finds himself waking up in a medical facility with no recollection of who he is.
Whilst the game has some pretty solid gun and stealth elements for players to enjoy, it really comes into its own with the many psychic abilities John possesses and needs to make use of in order to complete the game's tricky obstacles and puzzles. There's even a degree of strategy to levelling up and making use of these powers, with each power that John uses draining his psychic energy and leaving him stunned.
As well as the unique psychic powers gameplay, the parapsychology ties in nicely to the game's surprisingly deep plot. John is a veteran US Marine and has to use his powers to uncover the truth about not only himself, but his past life in the military.
Second Sight is a truly ambitious, complex title that might bite off more than it can chew at times, but still remains one of the most unique and underrated games in sci-fi history.
