10 Most Underrated Spider-Man Games
1. Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows
What's better than playing as one Spider-Man? That's right - playing as two of them!
Well, sorta.
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows allows you to play as both run-of-the-mill Spider-Man, but also includes the ability to play as black-suited badass symbiote Spider-Man too. Better still, you can freely switch between them at will and both have their own distinct combat abilities.
Where Web of Shadows shines the most is in its combat. Released before we had Batman: Arkham Asylum to revitalise the fighting in superhero games, Web of Shadows debuted a really effective, really fun combat system that allowed players to fight on the ground, in the air and even on walls.
The main component of this system is a new web strike move. This allows Spider-Man to attach a web on an enemy and propel himself towards them. You can then springboard off them up into the air for aerial combat.
The game's story is actually incredibly interesting; it tells a tale of a more experienced Spider-Man grappling with his own morality, and in true 2008 fashion, includes narrative branching choices which are reflections of Spider-Man adopting more of his traditional personality, or being warped by the symbiote.
