10 Most Underrated Spider-Man Games

7. Ultimate Spider-Man

Despite some really quite glowing critical reception, Ultimate Spider-Man, at the time of its release in 2005, failed to really capture the imaginations of Spidey fans.

Perhaps back in 2005, people just weren't ready for its bold, comic-book-inspired art style, and preferred the realistic approach to Spider-Man as presented in the movies?

That’s a crying shame, because Ultimate Spider-Man is definitely one of the best Spider-Man games ever released.

With its unique art style, the ability to play as both Spider-Man and Venom and realistic, physics-led web swinging as found in Spider-Man 2, this game really is the whole Spidey package.

Venom, in particular, is so fun to play as. As a lumbering, rage-filled symbiote, he doesn’t play nice like Spider-Man. He can go on rampages around the city, and depending on your actions, you’ll attract police attention. It’s basically Grand Theft Auto in the Spider-Man universe with added tendril attacks.

Venom will also lose health constantly - the only way to get it back is to actually consume people!
