4. Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace
Looking for a surprisingly fluid, surprisingly fun and really quite underrated Spidey game? Then look no further than the Game Boy Advance title, Spider-Man, Mysterio's Menace!
This take on Spidey has many inspirations. Gameplay wise, it's inspired by the SNES and Genesis side-scrolling platformer/beat-em-up Spidey's of yesteryear, but in terms of storyline, this is actually a direct sequel to the Spider-Man PS1 games Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro!
In a world where 3D Spider-Man games were slowly taking over and becoming increasingly more popular, it might surprised you to think that a handheld GBA game can be so much fun. That's what it is though - at 7 stages it's short and sweet, but the gameplay loop of bashing around some villains before taking on bosses such as Rhino, Hammerhead and even obscure Marvel villain Big Wheel is incredibly fun.
Like all the best Spidey stories, this one is also about Peter Parker. In this case, he's been tasked by Mary Jane to find a new fishbowl. Luckily, the game's titular villain has one perched upon his head.
