10 Most Underrated Weapons In Gaming
6. Chicken Drumstick: MediEvil
A true cult
classic from the PlayStation archives (which was treated to a PlayStation 4
remake in 2019), MediEvil puts the player in the role of freshly-undead
skeletal knight Sir Daniel Fortesque, who engages in an adorably spooky action
adventure across the land of Gallowmere.
As he fights to defeat scheming sorcerer Zarok and his minions, Sir Dan gets his bony hands on a variety of different weapons, from magical swords to spears, bows and even a suit of draconic fire-breathing armor. The most unique and seemingly useless tool in his arsenal, however, is the Chicken Drumstick.
This weapon is given to the player by the witch in the level The Enchanted Earth, if they awaken her with the Witch Talisman and complete the quest to collect seven pieces of Amber from the Ant Caves. Repeating this quest is also the only legitimate way to get more Chicken Drumsticks, so it makes perfect sense that most players wouldn’t bother with them.
Surprisingly, though, Chicken Drumsticks can be incredibly useful. They require careful aim, but a well-thrown drumstick will instantly ‘defeat’ any enemy (or even multiple), transforming them into pieces of roast chicken (which Dan can collect to restore his health). Silly, niche and limited, yes, but they can be the key to survive in trickier sections of the game.
