10 Most Unique Mystery Video Games Ever

6. Danganronpa Series

The thought of returning to a life of school sounds awful to most people. There were probably bullies, mean teachers, and tons of homework, but imagine being trapped there.

Not just trapped, but knowing that your only means of escape is to get away with murder. This all sounds confusing and nonsensical, but if you play the Danganronpa series, it'll soon become clear...well, sorta.

Developed by Spike Chunsoft, Danganronpa combines elements of classic Japanese visual novels, puzzle solving, and the now infamous Class Trial - the game where students debate to try to figure out who the killer is. Use your truth bullets and your powers of deduction to find the killer and put a stop to the evil killing game.

The entire mystery of Danganronpa is one that takes place over several games, but within each game, you'll have to take it upon yourself to solve the murders of your fellow classmates, while also trying to figure out how to escape without having to hurt anyone else.

The game's pop aesthetic doesn't take away from the suspense of it. You'll find yourself truly anxious as you walk around wondering if you're the next victim of the killing game.
