And so we arrive to the third and final entry about Sony's bizarre pricing policies.

Sony's upgrade path for last-gen games has been an embarrassment for the company. While Microsoft have offered a clear, simple upgrade system - any Xbox One game will work on an Xbox Series console, free of charge and fully upgraded - Sony have repeatedly muddied the waters.

Sony's Dual Entitlement service - which offers free generational upgrades for select games - is a nice idea, but it's one that seems to generate more negative headlines than positive ones. Indeed, the decision to offer a free upgrade to the aforementioned Horizon: Forbidden West only came about after the deluge of negative publicity that resulted when Sony said it would be excluded from the Dual Entitlement service. And even then, Sony found a way to screw it up...

So that's inflated RRP, nonsensical pricing and unclear upgrade paths. Hopefully tonight's State of Play will address at least one of these problems!

Speaking of which...
