10 Multiplayer Video Games RUINED By Microtransactions

When you have serious politicians unironically using the term "Gamer," you know you've gone too far.

Such was the case with Star Wars Battlefront 2, which not only holds the most downvoted AMA on Reddit, but was also condemned by multiple governments for its predatory practises.

The tragedy of Darth Plagueis seemed like a comedy compared to this financial fiasco, with EA almost immediately removing all Microtransactions in response to the backlash. Even Disney seemed surprised at the controversy, and considering the vitriol after the Last Jedi, this was quite an achievement.

While the game improved over time, the scrutiny on EA has remained as focussed as a Jedi on Xanax, and even DICE has seen trust waver, with subsequent sales of Battlefield V taking a hit.

That caution could even be seen from expectations regarding Fallen Order, with EA forced to promise that they stayed as far away from development as possible. Not a good look for a games publisher.

Battlefront 2 was ruined so entirely that it crushed reputations, introduced laws, and shifted mainstream perceptions around Microtransactions. Players are now more unwilling than ever to trust marketing hype and corporate spiel. But hey, Dragon Age 4 looks promising, right? RIGHT?
