10 Mundane But Incredibly Useful Items In Dungeons And Dragons

8. Mirror

When you're next in town, go into a trader, put 5GP on the counter and buy yourself a piece of shiny steel: you won’t regret it. This small, easily forgettable item could save your whole team from walking into that ambush around the next corner. Your rogue doesn’t even have to stick their head out.

Apart from the obvious, there are other ways to use this mirror. Maybe you are trying to signal your friends who are quite some distance away. Either it’s too far for the message cantrip or no one has it. No bother: simply reflect some sunlight off the mirror and you could communicate a message you decided earlier.

Just about to meet royalty? Better check yourself out. You may have been schlepping through a swamp for the past week, but that is no reason to meet the queen covered in another creature’s blood.

Maybe your next quest involves doing battle with a Medusa. It’s time to go all Jason and the Argonauts. Strap this to the inside of a shield or your arm and you can avoid the snake-haired monster's glare. A steel mirror is a simple light item that when you start to use, you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.
